Saint Louis pest control

We Missouri's top experts in rodent control. We are not a typical Saint Louis rat removal or pest control company. We don't treat rats or mice like insects, because they are not - they are mammals! You can't just use poison to get rid of them, like you can with insects. Unlike most Saint Louis pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions. We don't just use poison every month. We solve your rodent problem forever, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas, no matter how small, with steel
  • Set a dozen or more rat or mouse traps in the house and attic
  • Remove all rodents as they are caught and monitor for activity
  • Once there is no more activity and no more caught, we're done
  • When necessary, we clean rodent droppings, replace insulation, and repair chewed electric wires

Saint Louis Rodent Removal Tip:

What Are Some Rat Diseases That Can Affect Humans?
Rats are known to be significant carriers of diseases that affect human beings. They have been responsible for spreading some of the deadliest diseases known to man. Arguably, the mosquito is the deadliest creature on Earth due to the sheer number of people it has infected with deadly diseases, but the rat can certainly vie with it as one of the deadliest creatures on Earth. In this article, we will explore some of the wide variety of diseases spread from rats to humans.

Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome
A serious pulmonary disease with symptoms of fatigue, fever, shortness of breath, and severe muscle aches, particularly in large muscle groups. Symptoms also include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and severe difficulty breathing. It has a mortality rate of 38%.

It is transmitted by breathing in dust that is contaminated by rodent droppings or urine, direct contact with infected rodents, and (rarely) by rodent bites.

Hemorrhagic Fever with Rena Syndrome (HFRS)
HFRS is a serious disease with significant symptoms. They range from headaches, back and abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, blurred vision, low blood pressure, acute shock, vascular leakage (bleeding), and acute kidney failure. It has a 1% to 15% mortality rate.

It is transmitted by breathing in dust that is contaminated by rodent droppings or urine, direct contact with infected rodents, and (rarely) by rodent bites.

Lassa Fever
The symptoms of Lassa fever can be mild, such as slight fever, general malaise, and headache. In some 20% of cases it progresses to more serious symptoms of hemorrhaging, respiratory distress, vomiting, shock, facial swelling, hearing loss, tremors, and encephalitis. It has a 1% mortality rate overall but, among patients who are hospitalized 15% to 20% die.

It is transmitted by breathing in dust that is contaminated by rodent droppings or urine, eating food contaminated by infected rodents, direct contact with infected rodents, and (rarely) by rodent bites.

rodent trapping Lymphocytic Chorio-meningitis (LCM)
The initial symptoms of LCM include fever, malaise, loss of appetite, muscle aches, headache, nausea, and vomiting, sore throat, cough, joint pain, chest pain, testicular pain, and salivary gland pain. There are usually a few days of recovery and then there may be a second phase of the illness. Symptoms include meningitis, encephalitis, sensory disturbances, motor abnormalities, and meningoencephalitis (inflammation of the brain meninges). The mortality rate is less than 1%.

It is transmitted by breathing in dust that is contaminated by rodent droppings or urine, eating food contaminated by infected rodents, direct contact with infected rodents, and (rarely) by rodent bites.

Leptospirosis
Symptoms of Leptospirosis include high fever, headache, chills, muscle aches, vomiting jaundice, red eyes, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rash. It should be noted that these symptoms can be mistaken for other illnesses and that some infected patients may not have symptoms. After a first phase of the illness, there may be a second phase that is more severe and results in kidney or liver failure or meningitis. About 90% of cases are the mild form and are not fatal.

It is transmitted by eating food or drinking water contaminated with urine from infected animals, including rats. It is also spread by contact through the skin or mucous membranes with water or soil contaminated with urine from infected animals, including rats.

Rat-Bite Fever
Rat-bite fever is a serious bacterial infection. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, headache, muscle pain, and joint pain. Symptoms may begin as long as three weeks after a scratch or bite transmits the bacteria. A rash may appear on the hands and feet. Joints are swollen, red, and painful. There is a 7% to 10% mortality rate in cases of people who are not treated.

It is transmitted by a bite or scratch wound from an infected rat or contact with a dead rat. It is also transmitted by eating food or drinking water that is contaminated by rat feces.

Plague
Plague will forever be associated with rats. Rats and the fleas they carry have spread the plague bacteria and killed millions of people, most infamously during the Middle Ages. In bubonic plague, the symptoms include fever, headache, chills, weakness, and swollen, tender lymph nodes. In septicemic plague, symptoms include fever, chills, extreme weakness, abdominal pain, shock, bleeding into the skin and other organs. Skin and tissues turn black and die, especially on the fingers, toes, and nose. In pneumonic plague, the symptoms include fever, headache, weakness, and quickly developing pneumonia with difficulty breathing, chest pain, cough, and bloody or watery mucous.

It is transmitted by the bite of an infected flea carried by a rat or by direct contact with an infected rat. Pneumonic plague is the only one that can be spread from person to person. Plague is treatable by modern medicine but can be fatal if not treated.
